TuksRugbyWomens 7's: SA Champions Descend to Central Coast Sevens

South African Women’s team TuksWomensRugby 7's have been announced as the latest international team ready to descend on the UON Central Coast Sevens in October to contest the prestigious Kinesio Cup.

The successful Tuks side from the University of Pretoria boast a wealth of playing talent and national experience with the team including Springbok 7s squad member Nadine Roos (interprovincial and South African student player of the year in 2015), Current Springbok squad member Libbie Janse van Rensburg and Tuks team captain Lala Vazi who is a member of the Springbok 15’s squad.

Tuks has competed on the international 7’s scene since 2006 and has competed in the Dubai 7’s (7 times – won Plate Final twice), Reunion 7’s (3 times – Won the tournament in 2011), Hong Kong 7’s, Roma 7’s (won the Bowl Final), Centralè 7’s in Paris (twice – won award for the most competitive team), Stanislas 7’s in France (won Plate Final in 2015), Portugal 7’s (won the tournament), Zimbabwe 7’s (finished in second place) and in the African Cup in Uganda.

TuksWomensRugby 7's are the current South African University Champions with Tuks players also making up the whole of the Bulls Women’s 7’s provincial team who are the current National Provincial Champions.

During the last two years, Tuks have produced numerous Springbok 7’s squad players and are regarded as leaders in the development of Women’s rugby in their region.

This will be Tuks first tour to Australia and tough competition will await the South African Champions.

The UON Central Coast Sevens media unit said: “we are delighted to welcome the TuksWomensRugby 7's team to their first Central Coast Sevens, this will be the teams first tour to Australia and Tuks are the first South African team to compete in the tournament, we are very excited to have Tuks contesting the Kinesio Cup in October”.

The Kinesio Cup is widely regarded as one of the worlds leading and most prestigious women’s sevens tournament attracting strong competition annually and leading the way for women’s rugby in Australia.

The UON Central Coast Sevens will kick off on Friday 21st October with a youth boys and girls tournament before the international action where some of the very best teams in the world will collide over the weekend of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October.
