FAQ

As 2017 draws to a close, we wish you all well over the festive period, and hope that all members of the UP community enjoy a much-deserved summer holiday.

I want to thank our staff for their hard work and commitment to quality teaching, learning and research throughout the year. It’s because of your efforts that we have seen many positive increases in our rankings in 2017. This was demonstrated again by the recent release of the QS BRICS University Rankings where we were the only university in South Africa’s top four to improve our position, jumping eleven places in the overall ranking and coming in at number three for local universities. In addition, we are rated number two in the world for mycology, first in South Africa for accounting and finance, and 92nd in the world for law.

To the students who will be leaving us as they begin a new career, I wish you well and assure you that, having completed your studies at UP, you are well equipped to make a success of this next step in your journey. UP alumni are among the most sought after in the world, as we are ranked in the top 100 internationally for employability, and second in South Africa.

To those who will be returning, we will be pleased to see you back in the new year.

We hope that you and your families have a peaceful, safe and joyful festive season and wish you all the best for 2018.
