Creative Industry Imbizo at the Musaion Theatre

South Africa’s creative industries are gathering at the University of Pretoria on Saturday, 24 February 2018, to showcase how important copyright is for the vitality and growth of our creative industries (including music, publishing, literary and dramatic arts and film and entertainment) and to highlight how many of government’s recent proposals to amend our copyright legislation may harm the rights of our already vulnerable creatives.

AIME mentoring programme

Jack Manning-Bancroft, CEO of the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME), founded the programme at age 19 with 25 indigenous children in Sydney, Australia. He will do a presentation on the mentoring of learners by university students on 23 February 2018 at 14:00 in the Sanlam Auditorium on the University of Pretoria’s Hatfield Campus.

“Meet Your Writers series” is organised by the English Department in collaboration with the Department of Library Services . Achmat Dangor is a South African writer and has been awarded many literary prizes, including the South African Bosman prize for Kafka's Curse. Dangor has headed up various non-governmental organisations in South Africa, including the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
