University of Pretoria Law Clinic boasts best student at a law clinic in South Africa

Posted on October 08, 2015

On 17 September 2015 Ms Danélle Prinsloo, a Practical Law student at the University of Pretoria Law Clinic during 2014, was announced the winner in the category "Student at a law clinic who has shown exceptional dedication and commitment to his or her work at the clinic" at ProBono.Org’s 2nd Annual Pro Bono Awards Ceremony. Danélle was nominated by her supervising attorney at the University of Pretoria Law Clinic, Mr Frik Grobler.

An excerpt from the nomination read as follows: “Ms Prinsloo exhibited dedication and diligence far in excess of what is expected of a final year LLB student working in the Law Clinic as part of an elective module.  She spent far more time than the compulsory 90 minute “duty time” at the Law Clinic and in fact attended to her cases at the Law Clinic on a daily basis.  Students are not expected to attend to cases during the university examination and vacation periods, but Ms Prinsloo diligently assisted her supervising attorney with cases during these periods, whilst other students focussed on their studies or enjoyed their vacation”.
