#TuksRugby: Delta Drone TuksWomensRugby7's to play the quarterfinals in Paris

Posted on May 23, 2018

The Delta Drone TuksWomensRugby7's will today play against Finland in the quarterfinals of the Centrale Sevens Tournament in Paris.

The team dominated in each of the three pool games they played yesterday, beating Centro Naval 71-0, Finland 46-0 and England’s Ramblin Jesters 31-10.

It puts Tuks second overall on the log. The Netherlands Windmills is first with Wales third. The other national teams to also have qualified for the quarterfinals are Sweden, Ukraine, Belgium and Germany.

Riaan van der Merwe (coach) is impressed by his player's performance especially considering that they had only one day to recover from playing the Stanislas Sevens Tournament where lost in the final to Poland.

Libbie Janse van Rensburg (captain) who received the player of the tournament award last year was again in good form scoring four tries and kicking 15 conversions.  There seems to be no stopping the Springbok, Nadine Roos, as she scored seven tries.

Meghan Phillips, the former TuksAthletics women’s captain, scored three tries while Liske Lategan also impressed by dotting down four times.

Janse van Rensburg is realistic as to the challenge that awaits them today.

“We are not going to have it all our way like we did yesterday. We are playing some quality sides. Last year we finished sixth. Our aim as a team is to improve by at least one position in the team standings.  If we do, it will be mission accomplished as we are in a rebuilding phase.”

If Tuks should beat Finland, which they in all probability will do, they will get to play Wales in the semi-finals.
