#TuksAthletics: Manyonga is already busy with rehabilitation

Posted on June 23, 2017

The good news for South African athletics fans is that the world's best long jumper, Luvo Manyonga, has only sustained a slight ankle injury and is already busy with rehabilitation.

According to Lee-Roy Newton, his agent, there is nothing to worry about; it is just important not to take any risks before the World Championships in London as there is a lot at stake for him.

Manyonga sustained the injury on Sunday competing at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm. He remained seated in the sand pit after his last jump of 8.20m. He could be seen that he was in some pain. He was clutching his left ankle.

Neil Cornelius (Tuks coach) said Manyonga would only do light training in the next few days.
"Depending on how his recovery goes I might have him doing his run-ups at full speed at the end of next week. He could even do a few jumps."

Manyonga's next competition will be the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat on 16 July.
