#TuksFootball: Tuks go down to TUT by 4-2

Posted on September 15, 2016

TUT got their 2016 campaign off to the perfect start following a 4-2 win over Tuks in Potchefstroom on Monday evening.

There was early dominance by TUT, as they tested Andrea Sumaraj on goal for Tuks, who looked shaky from opening minutes. TUT were looking structured and composed, spreading the ball wide to their tricky winger, Koketso Tlailana.

In the 11th minute, Tuks defender Lebogang Mabatle cleared the ball off the line to keep it at 0-0. It took Tuks until the 14th minute to get their first shot on target when Temakwanati Mncina saw her tame shot easily held.

TUT’s most threatening player looked to be Letago Madiba, whose phenomenal skill had Tuks’ defence in all sorts of trouble. She narrowly missed, after taking ball past the Tuks keeper in the 16th minute.

But TUT would score on the stroke of half-time thanks to a curling effort from the edge of the box by Rachel Sebati.

The second half was all TUT again and they doubled their lead just two minutes in after a breakaway by Letago Madiba who tucked the ball into the bottom corner. Just five minutes later it was 3-0. A fine cross by Letago Madiba put Bontle Mashilo in on goal and she easily made it three.

But Tuks weren’t going down without a fight and they pulled one back in the 45th minute after a poor take by TUT keeper Petronella Chiloane left Lebogang Mabatle with an open goal. And it was soon 3-2 after a scrap in the TUT box and the ball fell to Temakwanati Mncina, who snapped at the ball and it ended up in the back of the net.

But TUT continued to split the Tuks defence down the wings and the result was put beyond doubt when TUT’s Letago Madiba broke away and kicked the ball straight at Tuks keeper Andrea Sumaraj, who fumbled and let the ball through to make it 4-2, which is how it ended.
