TuksFootball: Spartak out to win

Posted on May 27, 2015

The University of Pretoria Football Club's SAB Regional League team, Spartak, is out to prove a point this season. The team is currently top of their group with three more games to go with hopes of qualifying for the provincial play-offs.

Spartak hosted Blue Stars on the 22 May 2015 on field B at the UP Sports Campus. Simbongile Njokwe gave his team the lead after converting Jeremiah Nkwana’s free-kick into a goal with a blazing header. The team captain, Lawrence Ntswane, extended the lead in the second half thus sealing the team’s 2-0 victory.

Coach Jan Tlisane is pleased with the team’s performance and believes the team is ready to step up and compete in the ABC Motsepe League provided that they win their three games and fight their way to promotion.

“I think as a team we are happy that the boys are doing well and they understand the objective. We still have three more games to go before play-offs and we are aware that this won’t be a walk in the park. Getting promoted will bring joy to TuksFootball and will aid player’s development as they’ll be competing in a more intense league” said the coach.

The Spartak team will travel away on the 30 May 2015 to Cullinan to play against Cullinan FC; kick-off will be at 15h00.
