SPORT BURSARIES

We have a sport programme filled with all the important components that you will need to develop your sporting talent, whilst at the same time obtaining a quality education.

Our passionate and professional coaches will lead and assist you to reach your full potential.

Bursaries can only be awarded to individuals who join and participate in the different clubs which are catered for by the University of Pretoria.

Annual Sport Bursary Applications: Open on 30 June  &  Close on 30th September.
Late submission will mean exclusion from the awarding process.

Bursaries are only available for full-time study at the University of Pretoria. Wrong and/or incomplete information will lead to the immediate cancellation of the application. Each application will be acknowledged soon after receiving the application.  If receipt of your application is not acknowledged within 3 weeks after mailing or submission it is the responsibility of the applicant to make enquiries at the specific TuksSport club. Bursaries are only awarded in one sport code i.e. NO double funding.

Successful applicants will be required to sign a written contract with the University of Pretoria annually, stipulating the expectations of the University for the athlete. Being awarded a sport bursary does not entitle an individual to follow-on years bursary.

Yearly re-application will be expected of the bursary holders. The re-awarding of a sport bursary will take the above criteria into consideration, along with performances, training attendance commitment to the programme of the athlete.

The bursary will be reviewed annually and according to performance.  If a bursary recipient does not perform well in either the academic or sport environment the bursary may be reduced or cancelled.

In the case where a bursary holder cancels their studies, the bursary will be cancelled and the full amount must be refunded to the university. Sport bursaries are refundable to the university when a student does not adhere to the contractual agreements. If the bursary recipient does not pass their studies, no re-allocation will be considered and bursary paid will be refundable. The application form must be signed by a legal guardian if the applicant is under the age of 18 years.
