A Town and Regional Planning qualification is a professional qualification and will enable a graduate to register as a town and regional planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN).

Courses offered by the Department of Town and Regional Planning:

The Department offers one full-time undergraduate degree, and three postgraduate degrees. These are:

• Coursework Bachelor of Town and Regional Planning – B TRP (4 years, full-time)
• Coursework Master of Town and Regional Planning – M TRP (2 years, part-time)
• Research Master of Town and Regional Planning – M TRP (full-time or part-time)
• Philosophiae Doctor – PhD with specialisation in Town and Regional Planning (full-time or part-time)

The Department further offers various continued professional development (CPD) short courses to planning practitioners.
