All TuksTennis in the TuksOpen Men

Posted on October 30, 2013

Rain caused some adjustment to the order of play, resulting in the semi-finals and final being played on the same day. The first semi-final saw Reinardt Trollip going through in 3 sets 67(7-4) 76 (10-)  63 against Lloyd Segal. In the second semi-final Leo Adebanjo had a thrilling match on his hands; down 5-4  0-40 with opponent Redge Rostron smelling the victory, Adebanjo came up with unbelievable tennis shot that left his opponent stunned and at a loss for words. Adebanjo wrapped up the match in three sets 26 63 75.

The final had less spark as both players had exhausted all their energy in the semi-finals. From the onset of the match Reinhardt took control. With one service break in the first set he made sure not to go to third set by breaking his opponent in the first game of the second set to take a commanding lead. Adebanjo failed to pump himself up and succumbed to 63 62 straight sets.

The proceedings concluded with Dr. Rendani Mulaudzi (TuksSport: Deputy Director) presenting the winners with the trophies and Wynand Claassen (TuksSport: Alumni & Fundraising) thanking all the sponsors and the organizers for a good tournament. He further thanked Nerina Residence for organising the fundraising and sponsoring lunch for the Bradley children’s home.

Thank you to the HPC for sponsoring us with the players Goody bags.

Well done to all players who participated in the tournament which was a real success.
