Student Counselling Unit

PLEASE NOTE

  • The Student Counselling Unit (SCU) is actively servicing students on an online and face-to-face basis.

  • You can access informal counselling services by phoning a counsellor on 0800 747 747 or sending a sms to 31393.  This will take the form of a telephone conversation.  A supportive registered counsellor will assist you with your enquiry or concern, offer advice if possible and even call you back to check in on you, if that is what you need.

  • To request more formal individual psychotherapy or a career assessment, please send an email to [email protected]

  • Leave your name, student number, a cell phone number, your faculty and campus, as well as a short message - we will be in touch.

  • Please allow for some time for a response to your email request. We attend to requests for services every day, and your email will be answered.

  • Again just a reminder to include your UP student number, cell number, faculty and campus in all service requests.

  • Remember that if you need to talk to someone immediately, it is advisable to call 0800 747 747. A supportive counsellor will be on hand to take your call and advise you on the best way forward.  You can call day or night, every day of the week.

  • See the bottom of this page for the contact details of various other service providers available to students, as well as EMERENCY CONTACT numbers.

Remember: All service requests can be directed to [email protected] - no matter which campus you are. Just remember to tell us...
