Two of our Department’s staff members obtain degrees at the University

Posted on May 25, 2016

Laetitia Coetzee, lecturer in Criminology, obtained her doctorate degree, with her thesis titled “Victim empathy in youth sex offenders.” She investigated whether youth sex offenders displayed empathy for their victims. The results of her research indicated that the youth sex offenders who participated in her study showed significantly less empathy for their victims, compared to empathy for sexual abuse victims in general. Based on these findings, Dr Coetzee made suggestions for programmes in Youth Correctional Centres.

Phillicia Ledwaba, secretary in our Department, obtained the degree Bachelor of Administration in Public Management and Public Administration from the School of Public Management and Administration in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.

We wish to congratulate our colleagues on their achievements.
