Visiting professor from Simmons College School of Social Work, Boston

Prof Hugo Kamya form the Simmons College School of Social Work in Boston, USA, visited our  Department for a period of six weeks. Prof Kamya’s fields of expertise include, amongst others, human rights; vulnerable children and families such as children and families affected by HIV and AIDS, war and domestic violence, as well immigrant and refugee families; treatment of psychological trauma; spirituality and social work; advanced clinical practice with children and families; and social work with groups. He published widely and presented numerous conference papers on these topics.

During his visit to our Department, Prof Kamya presented lectures to our students, both on undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He further visited field practice placements of our students and interacted with organisations who work in partnership with the Department.
