#TuksRugby: Six TuksRugby athletes selected for SA U/20

The next generation of young and emerging players have been selected to represent the South African U/20 team at the 2016 U/20 Championships World Cup which will take place in Manchester, England. For years, Tuks Young Guns & Varsity Cup teams have been on the selectors’ radar when selecting the National U/20 side.

TuksRugby has experienced athletes like Wiaan Liebenberg who was Captain in 2012 U/20 side which at who won the title for South Africa for the very first time. This was a memorable moment as the team beat rivals New-Zealand in the final.

Wiaan Liebenberg completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Pretoria in 2012. In the same year teammate, Jaco Visagie began his journey as a first year BSport Science student at the University of Pretoria. To date, Jaco can be seen playing for the Blue Bulls Super Rugby team as a hooker while completing his degree in Sports Science this year.

 

TuksRugby and University of Pretoria student-athletes Andrew Beerwinkel who is studying BA Honours and Dries Swanepoel who is currently pursuing a Masters in BCom were part of the In 2013 South African U/20 team which finished third in the tournament.

The following TuksRugby student-athletes have been selected in final 28 man group for World Cup U/20 for 2016 team:

  • Jan-Henning Campher (Hooker) –Young Guns
  • Eli Snyman (Lock)-Varsity Cup
  • Denzel Hill (No 8)-Young Guns
  • Franco van den Berg (Prop)-Young Guns
  • Franco Naude (Centre)-Young Guns
  • Jaco Holtzhauzen (prop)-Young Guns

TuksRugby is proud to of the  six student-athletes who made the U/20 National side who continuously prove to the world that it is possible to be a high performance and get an education.
