TuksRugby Take Silver at Varsity 7's

The 2015 edition of the Varsity 7's took place in Cape Town from the 25th to the 27th of April.

The UP-Tuks team entered the tournament 3rd on the log based on the results from the 2014 tournament and were definitely considered the underdogs of the tournament while Maties were considered the firm favourites.

UP-Tuks found themselves in a reasonable position at the end of day 1 after winning 3 and losing 2 matches.The team really gelled on day 2 winning 3 matches and losing only 1 and earning themselves a place in the semi finals against UJ.

UP-Tuks made light work of UJ by running in four tries to secure their spot in the final with a 31-19 victory.

The final against Kovsies was described as a pulsating match, which was closely contested from start to finish. UP-Tuks player, Dewald Human broke his leg during the match, rendering the team a man down. Kovsies managed to hold off the UP-Tuks attack and emereged victorius with a final score of 24-19.

Manager, Neel Grobler, said " We are extremely proud of our guys, they really did very well and exceeded our expectations. Our Silver medal position is bittersweet as it was the last match for Coach Marinus van der Watt. We wish his all the best with his future endevours."
