The Department of Political Science would like to congratulate Ms Ruth Murambadoro, a Political Science PhD candidate in the department, for making it into the African Studies Association (ASA) Board of Directors.

ASA is an American based organisation that seeks to promote the study of Africa, support research in Africa and to foster collaboration among African scholars. Since 1957, ASA hosts an annual conference in the US which draws over 2000 participants from across the globe who research on Africa. ASA also offers awards to outstanding scholars working on Africa, such as the Presidential Fellow Program, the Distinguished Africanist Award, the Graduate Student Paper Prize and the Bethwell A. Ogot Book Prize, among others.

Ms Murambadoro was awarded the ASA Presidential Fellow award in 2015 and now she joins the ASA board as a representative of Emerging Scholars.
