1. Philosophy & ethics of (general) health

More general than philosophy & ethics of mental health, philosophy & ethics of (general) health inform the module called "People and their Environment" (also known as block 2) that medical (MBChB) and dental (BChD) students in their 2nd year of undergraduate studies follow. See the Block Book (i.e. course guide) for more details. This module is directed by Prof CW van Staden in collaboration with other personnel from the Faculty of Health Sciences including personnel associated to the Division of Philosophy & Ethics of Mental Health .
 
Prof CW van Staden coordinates the training in health ethics for the Faculty of Health Sciences.
 

2. Psychiatry and the ethics of psychiatry (undergraduate)

Personnel associated with the Division of Philosophy and Ethics of Mental Health are involved in clinical training and lecturing of medical students in psychiatry and the ethics of psychiatry.


3. Registrars in psychiatry

Personnel associated with the Division of Philosophy and Ethics of Mental Health are involved in clinical training and lecturing to registrars in psychiatry and psychotherapy towards the MMed(Psych) degree and the Fellowship in Psychiatry of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (FCPsych(SA)). Prof CW van Staden chairs the Postgraduate Training Committee of the Department of Psychiatry.


4. Research ethics

Prof CW van Staden is chairperson of the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee.
