Dear first year student,

Welcome to the University of Pretoria (UP). 

Congratulations on becoming part of our dynamic and diverse student community where your academic success and holistic well-being matters.

Welcome Day is one of the most important days in the University's academic calendar when we formally receive our first year students and their parents or guardians as part of the UP family and community.

You and your parents or guardians are invited to this year's event taking place on 28 January 2017 at the Rembrandt Hall on the UP Sport Campus in South Street, Hatfield.   

In order to accommodate all first year students and parents or guardians, two sessions are planned.

The first session will commence at 08:00 and the second at 10:00. At both sessions, the University's senior leadership team will be introduced and the Vice Chancellor and Principal of UP, Prof Cheryl de la Rey, will address the new students and their families.  Both sessions will be preceded by a formal procession of the University's executive and deans.

To ensure the success of this event please pay particular attention to the session you are allocated to.

 

Please take note of the following arrangements:

  • Students and their guests will be required to present their identity document or driver's license to gain access to the venue.
  • Guests to be seated 30 minutes before the procession starts.  Seats are limited in the Rembrandt Hall.
  • Other services available on the day include contracts, student finance, registration and card issuing.  Please click HERE for more information.

The Welcome Day session will be live streamed to the venues outside Rembrandt Hall to accommodate a possible overflow of guests and will also be posted on the University website.
