Two new doctorates obtained in the Department of Mercantile Law

The Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria is proud to announce that recently two of our staff members in the Department of Mercantile Law have obtained their doctorate degrees.

Dr Carias Chokuda successfully completed his doctoral thesis on 'The Protection of Shareholders’ Rights versus Flexibility in the Management of Companies: A Critical Analysis of the Implications of Corporate Law Reform on Corporate Governance in South Africa with Specific Reference to Protection of Shareholders'. Carias' doctorate supervisor was Prof Richard Jooste (UCT) with co-supervisor Prof Andreas Van Wyk (US).

Dr Carika Fritz successfully defended her doctoral thesis on 'An appraisal of selected tax-enforcement powers of the South African Revenue Service within the South African constitutional context', with main supervisor Prof TD Legwaila (UJ) and co-supervisor Prof RCD Franzsen (UP).
