The Exceptional Achievers Function for the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences was held on Friday, 8 May 2015 in the Sanlam Auditorium. A hearty word of congratulations to the three prize winners from the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.

Ms Sanlie van den Brink (right) received the Dewald Hattingh book prize for the best third year student in Mathematics from Prof Roumen Anguelov (HOD).

She also received the Award of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the utumn graduation ceremony. The award consists of a silver medal as well as a cash prize and certificate and is awarded to candidates for outstanding undergraduate academic achievement during all the undergraduate years of study for any first bachelor’s degree in a faculty.

Mr Michael Light (right) received the Gensec Prize  for the most outstanding honours student in the Mathematics of Finance/Financial Engineering study programme from Prof Anguelov

The South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) medal for the best honours student in the Mathematics or Applied Mathematics programmes was awarded to Mr St.Elmo Wilken (right).
