The JuniorTukkie Student Society has been established to assist the JuniorTukkie Office with its various JuniorTukkie projects and in doing so, gain valuable knowledge and skills. First- to final-year students are welcome to join the JuniorTukkie Student Society.
First- to final-year UP students are welcome to join the JT Student Society. Members should complete 40 hours of administrative work in the JT Office.

The following is required from these students:
- JT Student Society members are required to complete
- 40 hours of administrative work in the JuniorTukkie Office. Once students completed their mandatory time, they earn the privilege to become mentors to younger students and learners during JuniorTukkie events.
- Depending on the project budget, students may receive compensation for their mentoring work .
JuniorTukkie projects include the following:
- Welcoming Day for new first-year students
- Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) Week 1 and 2
- JCP (Joint Community Project) for second-year EBIT students
- UP Open Day and faculty open days
- JuniorTukkie Grade 11 Top Achievers Function
- Information session for Gr ade 10 and 11 learners and their parents
- JuniorTukkie Grade 11 Empowerment Week (Supported by Investec)
- JuniorTukkie/Agri-Food Bursary and Career Fair
- Outreach at students’ former schools and communities
- JuniorTukkie Grade 12 Preparation Conference (Supported by Investec)
- JT Student Society Year-end function
- Packaging and distribution of the JuniorTukkie magazine
