2017 Prize giving

On Thursday, 7 September 2017, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering hosted their annual Industrial Engineering prize-giving function at Pure Cafe on the University of Pretoria's Hatfield Campus. This event is a celebration of the academic achievements of the previous year's first-, second- and third-year Industrial Engineering (IE) students.
 
Prizes were awarded in the following categories:
1. Best First-year IE student of 2016 – Prizes sponsored by Magna BC
2. Best Second-year IE student of 2016 – Prizes sponsored by Fourier Approach
3. Best Third-year IE student of 2016 – Prizes sponsored by iPlan Global
 
In the *first category, Best First-year Industrial Engineering Student, Miss Ané van Heerden was the winner. The other nominees were Mr Joshua da Silva and Mr Ruan Grabe.
In the *second category, Best Second-year Industrial Engineering Student, Mr Ughard de Clercq was the winner. The other nominees were Mr Petrus Jansen van Rensburg and Miss Adèle van Jaarsveld.
In the *third category, Best Third-year Industrial Engineering Student, Miss Jana Taute was the winner. The other nominees were Mr Eben Vorster and Miss Kirsten Young.
 
Congratulations to all the students who received prizes for their outstanding academic achievements.
The Department would like to express its sincere appreciation to the sponsors of this successful event, Magna BC, Fourier and iPlan, and a special word of thanks to the following representatives of these companies: Messrs Wessel Richter, Johan Fischer, Gerrit Fischer, Martin Coetzer and Neil Stander Magna BC); Dr Pieter Conradie and Messrs Jaco Purchase, Wessel van Heerden and Rikus Kellerman (Fourier); and Mr Danie Grobbelaar (iPlan).
A word of thanks also goes the Head of Department, Prof Sarma Yadavalli, the staff of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the students who attended the event and Pure Café for the catering and provision of the necessary facilities.
