Camille completed a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies: Research, Measurement, and Statistics from Georgia State University in 2011. Camille is passionate about identifying the community and social assets that strengthen women’s positions in addition to recognizing the multiple barriers that exist to prevent women from being equal stakeholders in decision-making processes. She has a fervent desire to engage in rights-based projects that are meaningful and policy-oriented, which also directly benefit the participants and communities involved. Camille’s doctoral dissertation is a participatory study that explores various dimensions of women’s empowerment in the context of microfinance using photovoice methodology. This study was conducted in Mali, in both urban and rural settings.

During Camille’s term as a Human Economy Postdoctoral Fellow, she conducted empirical research in South Africa. This allowed for an extension upon her previous research, while offering a comparative lens from the Southern African region.
