Irvette van Zyl and Charne Bosman, breezed to victory in the women’s 21km and 42km races respectively at the Johnson Crane Marathon in Benoni on Sunday 31st of January.

Van Zyl amazed everybody, clocking her fastest time in nearly five years in 1:12:08.  She finished 13th overall, and after setting a season’s best of 33:30 over 10km in Pretoria a week earlier, Van Zyl again proved she was on track for her Olympic qualifying attempt at the London Marathon in April.

Bosman, meanwhile, finished in a solid time of 2:48:52 to win the women’s 42km race.

Van Zyl, Bosman and Wostmann are all coached by Lindsey Parry at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
