PhD 

The Department offers a PhD degree in Engineering Management, Technology and Innovation Management and in Project Management. A PhD colloquium is held at least four times a year where PhD students and academic staff present and discuss their research. All doctoral students and staff are required to attend.

At the Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM) we require ​a MEng or MSc degree. Furthermore, a 75% average is required for the Masters degree, or at least 70% plus other special outputs such as high level research publications. For a Taught Masters the GSTM require a 75% average, or if higher then 70%, the thesis mark must be at least 75%. The marks for the courses in the field of specialization are specifically taken into consideration. A TOEFL or IELTS test will be required of candidates who have not studied the pre-requisite degree through the medium of English. Applicants who did not study at a South African University need to submit a SAQA certificate. http://www.saqa.org.za/ 

The PhD Research Committee will evaluate the application and if the academic record is acceptable and research idea falls within our research areas a study leader will be allocated to the student. He or she will then prepare a full proposal in line with the prescripts in the attached document. This proposal will be evaluated by the PhD research committee.
