Posted on August 22, 2016

Tuks faced the University of Fort Hare (UFH) in their Round Six clash at a cold Tuks Stadium on Monday, 22 August 2016. The home side scored a record-breaking nine goals to one, thereby keeping their hope of taking part in the semi-finals alive.

Tuks were stunned early on as Sindile Mlilo grabbed the lead for UFH. The visitors started strongly but an unfortunate own goal soon tied the score. Mogau Khwinana then brought Tuks into the lead, shortly after which Tiago da Serra scored with a header, bringing the tally to 3–1 at half-time.

The onslaught continued in the second half with Frank Mpedi leading the charge scoring two goals. Another goal by Mbongeni Masilela brought it to 6–1. Mogau Khwinana scored a further two to complete his hat-trick and Sego Mokgwope capped off a memorable night with a final goal to make it 9–1 just before the final whistle.

The result left Tuks in the third spot with a superior goal difference over rivals UJ.
