#AmaTuks Match Report: Maritzburg United vs AmaTuks

It rained goals at the Harry Gwala Stadium when AmaTuks scored 4 goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half and ran out 4-2 winners against Maritzburg United on Saturday night.

In the 11th minute Mnyamane's corner caused a scramble in front of goal but the hosts eventually managed to clear their lines.

AmaTuks committed men forward in the 24th minute for a corner but Maritzburg won the ball and launched the counter attack. Philani Zulu played the ball to the right to find Mekoa who cut inside to create a better angle for himself then took a shot from outside the penalty area to beat Coetsee on his left and score the opening goal.

In the 30th minute Zulu took a powerful shot from a similar range and Mekoa and Coetsee punched the ball away. AmaTuks then launched an attack of their own and the ball fell to Nemukondeni on the right flank. He played it inside for Ntombayithethi but his shot from outside the penalty box went wide of goal.

In the 43rd minute Maruping set the ball up for Ngubane on the edge of the penalty box but his shot went just over the crossbar. Maritzburg continued to dominate position into the half time break.

AmaTuks showed cooler heads in the second half and were rewarded 3 minutes into the second stanza with Ntombayithethi's pinpoint cross finding Maruping on the edge of the 6 yard and he headed home the equaliser. 2 minutes later after the Maritzburg defence failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to Bacela on the edge of the 6 yard box and he blasted the ball past Verbauwhede to score the second for the visitors.

Hardly 5 minutes after that Nyondo brought the ball down and on the turn played it over the Maritzburg defence to find the sprinting Bacela beat who beat the offside trap down the center of defence and beat the keeper on his right to score his second and AmaTuks'' third of the match.

From a very tight angle Nyondo tried to cut the ball back for Nemukondeni but the ball deflected off Onyango to beat the keeper on the near post for AmaTuks' 4th goal in the 61st minute. In the 68th minute a snapshot from Nyondo from outside the penalty arc took a deflection and went just over the crossbar.

AmaTuks' defence were caught ball watching and Zulu rose over them for score Maritzburg's second in the 68th minute.

In the 73rd minute Jaure was penalised for an infringement in the penalty box and the referee awarded the hosts the penalty. Lentjies stepped up to take the spot kick but then blasted the ball well wide of goal and AmaTuks' 2 goal lead remained intact.

In the 80th minute Zwane dribbled his way into the penalty box and had his shot blocked, the deflection fell kindly for him and he had a second bite at the cherry but his shot went narrowly wide of the foot of the upright.

With an additional 5 minutes added at the end of the 90 AmaTuks were able to defend their lead and took all three points back to Pretoria.

The result see AmaTuks frog leap Jomo Cosmos and move to 14th position on the log on goal difference and 4 points clear of Maritzburg who have a game in hand.
