TuksFootball Administrator to represent South Africa

Posted on June 22, 2015

TuksFootball Administrator Boitumelo Lekalakala has been selected to represent South Africa at the Women’s Sports Leadership Academy 2015. The Women's Sport Leadership Academy (WSLA) will take place from 22-26 June 2015 at the University of Chichester.

WSLA 2015 aims to bring together 43 outstanding women leaders, half from the UK and half from 18 different countries, providing a unique learning environment that will support the women to further develop their leadership competencies.

Boitumelo’s mission is to empower young girls who play football. She wants to help them focus on both their education and respective sport.  “I don’t want to see someone else suffer like I did to get an education.” Her involvement in sports was inspired by observing a lot of talented athletes who don’t fully reach their potential hence her involvement in Pretoria-based NGO Dlala Ntombazana.

Boitumelo applied with aspirations of getting international experience. The Sports Science graduate who hails from Soshanguve says being selected to represent South Africa has been an eye-opening experience. “It doesn’t matter what position you have, it’s what you do to make a difference in someone’s life that matters. The women who get selected to be part of the leadership academy are leaders and influencers in their respective fields. I look forward to learning and engaging with women from other corners of the world.” said Boitumelo.

“We wish her well on her trip and hope whatever she learns she will plough it back into TuksFootball and South Africa at large.” said Lydia Monyepao, TuksSport Deputy Director Support Services.
