Great Experience In Holland

Posted on April 02, 2015

AmaTuks had to twice come from behind to finish their first match against PEC Zwolle with a 2-2 draw. There were no goals at half time  But Zwolle registered the first goal of the match in the 46th minute from the penalty spot. Robertson's header from Mabena's corner kick levelled matter for AmaTuks in the 61st minute. Zwolle then restored the lead in the 63rd minute. AmaTuks threw everything they had forward creating many chances but failing to convert, they eventually found the equaliser in the 79th minute through Mfulwane.

"I'm happy with the performance, the boys pressed and squeezed them and forced them to make mistakes from which we capitalised," Said coach Mosala.

"Tuks surprised us with their organisation and tactical play. They are a good team but need to convert the chances that they create," said PEC Zwolle coach Gert Peter De Gunst.

AmaTuks then travelled to Heerenveen where they were welcomed by legend Hans Vonk, and had a sit down for a motivational talk. The match was played in what coach Mosala described as "miserable weather".  This match also went into half time with no goals. The hosts then found the opener on the stroke on an hour and extended their lead in the 67th minute with no reply from AmaTuks but it was again the heroics on keeper Ngubeni who kept the scoreline respectable. The match ended 2-0 in favour of Heerenveen.

"We struggled to adapt to the conditions and they forced us to defend literally the whole game," said coach Mosala

"Tuks did well under the conditions but they need to learn to hold up the ball more so as to bring the rest of the team into the game," said Hans Vonk.

The last match of the tour was against Vitesse Arnhem, where AmaTuks came out 2-1 winners with Mfulwane and Ngcobo providing the goals. "The boys showed character, regrouping and coming back after conceding an early in the game. I did not see us winning this game because these guys play a much better brand of football and had not lost a match coming into the encounter but we were determined to get at least one positive result on the tour and this being the last match it had to be it.

Overall I am happy with the tour, the boys showed that they can handle the tough European conditions and I am confident that they will take this experience and use it to improve their performances at home, be it in the PSL, the junior league or in USSA since this is a mixed team, " said coach Mosala
