A proud Dr Gustav Muller in the Department of Private Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pretoria recently received the Faculty’s teaching award for the 2016 academic year.  The award is  a R10 000 contribution to Gustav's research fund, courtesy of the  Department of Higher Education and Training Teaching Development Grant.

In her assessment, Evaluator Faith Mathibedi highlighted Gustav's teaching philosophy and narrative skills.  ‘A well-presented teaching philosophy that clearly reveals Dr Gustav Muller’s teaching approach that addresses the pedagogic central issues within the module.  It is well articulated and there is alignment in his beliefs and what the Faculty of Law aspires to achieve.  This philosophy is also underpinned by relevant international education and teaching and learning scholars’ works.’  She commented on his teaching narrative as follows:   ‘An excellent teaching narrative that outlines improvements to a teaching practice in which the Faculty’s inquiry-led approach is implemented.  This approach is not only implemented in the facilitation of learning, but as well as in the assessment practice.  The diversity of students’ learning styles is also catered for.’

Well done, Gustav, the Faculty of Law is very proud of you!
