12:40 - 13:30
Musaion, Hatfield Campus, University of Pretoria
Join us at 12:40 on Thursday, 21 September 2017 in the Musaion on the University of Pretoria's Hatfield Campus for a free Lunch Hour Concert by renowned pianist, Charl du Plessis.
Charl du Plessis rose to fame when he became the youngest pianist in Africa to be named a Steinway Artist in 2010. He has since embarked on an international career working simultaneously as a classical and jazz pianist and has illuminated the music of Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billie Joel for a new generation of listeners.
His specialisation in the arrangement and refined treatment of crossover music sets him apart from other pianists and has enabled him to build a new audience where the classic music connoisseur and jazz enthusiast meet. The confidence which is afforded by performing his own and thoroughly original arrangements, combined with his classical piano expertise allows him to combine the art of improvisation with insightful and interpretative musicianship.
He also recently became the first pianist in the World to perform on Table Mountain.
Entrance is free. Everybody welcome. Do not miss out!
