Academic exchange between SA and Austria a huge success

In pursuit of the University of Pretoria’s (UP) internationalisation plan, the Department of Business Management in UP’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) successfully concluded a two-week international academic exchange programme  with students from the FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences in Austria. Tourism Management Lecturer and Students jet off to Germany

Prof Elizabeth du Preez from the Division Tourism Management in the Department of Marketing Management visited Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development (HNE), Berlin, Germany, as a visiting scholar during the month of April 2023. Read more.

Three PhD candidates in the University of Pretoria's Department of Economics recently participated in the 44th Annual International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) conference, which took place from 4 to 9 February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. Read more.

UP's tourism management honours students excel at Future Leaders Challenge in Dubai

What a great start to the year it was, as four of the University of Pretoria’s (UP) top tourism management honours students boarded an Emirates Airbus 380, one of the largest passenger planes ever made, and took off to Dubai to partake in the Future Leaders Challenge (FLC)  on 15 January 2023. Read more.

           

SPMA Academics attend the IIAS- SEAAPP Conference in Doha Qatar

The IIAS-SEAPP conference entitled “Developmental States and Professionalization of Public Administration and Public Policy”, took place from the 6th to the 9th of February 2023 at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar.  It provided a unique opportunity for exchanging experiences, sharing knowledge and fostering government action to address complex policy dilemmas and constraints. Albert Luthuli Leadership Institute at UP appoints Oslo's Prof Banik to boost leadership research 

The well-known and respected scholar from the University of Oslo Professor Dan Banik has been appointed as extraordinary professor at the University of Pretoria's Albert Luthuli Leadership Institute (ALLI). Read more.

 

           

Financial Management academic participates in the 2022 ICCSR in Mauritius

Professor Elda du Toit from the Department of Financial Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences was one of numerous delegates from across the world who attended the 19th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR) at the Ravenala Attitude Hotel in Balaclava, Mauritius. International editor and scholar visits Marketing at UP

The Department of Marketing Management at the University of Pretoria proudly hosted Professor Charles Ray Taylor from 10 to 14 October 2022. Prof Taylor is the John A. Murphy Professor of Marketing at the Villanova School of Business and Senior Research. Read more.

SPMA Director co-chairs panel at International Conference

Professor Gerda van Dijk, Director of the School of Public Management and Administration was part of a panel discussion, “Academics, Expertise, and Policy-Making in Transition Democracies”, at the 3rd Annual Workshops on Public Policy held at the Corvinus University in Budapest, Hungary in June. HR Fullbright student jets off to Vanderbilt University, USA

Lonwabo Makapela, a PhD fellow in the Department of Human Resource Management, will join Vanderbilt University in the US for 10 months as a visiting student researcher in gender studies as part of the US Fulbright Foreign Student Program. Read more.

UP Academic awarded AAP funding for diversity management research

Associate Professor Nasima Carrim of the University of Pretoria (UP) Department of Human Resource Management was awarded seed funding by the 2021 Alliance for African Partnership’s (AAP) Transforming Institutions Strategic Programme to conduct research into diversity management. SPMA student discusses anti- corruption reforms in Botswana at COPPR 2023

Marumo Omotoye, a second year PhD Public Policy candidate in the School of Public Management and Administration, participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Public Affairs, USA, on the ‘Student Experience Applying the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF)’, which was led by Professors Kristin Olofsson (Oklahoma State University) and Paul Cairney (University of Stirling, UK). Read more.
