Vision and Mission

As the four divisions within Facilities Management closely interact to provide a seamless integrated service to the university community it is necessary to include the vision and mission statements of the divisions in order to appreciate the lower level responsibilities within the department.

The development of strategies and action plans for the Department is based on the University of Pretoria’s strategic plan Therefore the strategic objectives of Facilities Management are as follows:

To timeously plan for new requirements in consultation with all role players and in support of the University of Pretoria’s vision and commensurate strategies
To complete all capital improvement, replacement and renewal projects within budget, on schedule and to satisfaction of the user requirement

  • To maintain and repair current facilities to a high level of reliability and with minimum disruption to users in the learning and support services environments
  • To be pro-active in all areas relating to energy management, safety, health and the environment
  • To establish a supportive service culture that reflects efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism in everything we do
  • To integrate and coordinate all processes in the lifecycle of facilities and infrastructure
  • To utilise the best available knowledge and experience from the faculties and support service departments applicable to the facilities environment
  • To add value for the University of Pretoria by managing all the properties that haven’t been allocated to a faculty or support services department
  • To recruit staff with the desired skills profile and to provide appropriate continuing development opportunities
  • To benchmark its activities against local and international standards
  • To support socio-economic development by outsourcing services and supplies to BB BEE organisations
