The TuksCricket players have worked hard to get themselves ready for all the cricket they’ll be playing in the next 6 months and will be defending the NCU Premier League, the NCU T20 Competition, the USSA A Cricket Week and the Varsity Cricket Competition titles. This year the NCU Premier League has been changed to 50 overs and the NCU Knock-Out Competition has been replaced with a two-day day competition in NCU Time-Cricket which will take place in February.
The preseason included many different components of strength & conditioning, fitness, cricket specific training, warm-up matches and Assupol Tuks 1 representing South Africa at the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals in Sri-Lanka at the start of September.
Assupol TuksCricket Head of Programme, Kruger van Wyk will be Head Coach for Assupol Tuks 1 for all competitions and Curtly Diesel has been appointed as the Assupol Tuks 2 Head Coach in the NCU Premier League.
Talking about the season, van Wyk said, “The start of the season is always an exciting time; the whole Club comes together and looks forward to the new prospects of the months lying ahead. A lot of new, young players have joined us at the Club and have settled in really well. We are excited about all the competitions that lie ahead of us – the three Northerns Cricket Union competitions as well as the two university competitions – which are all great platforms for all of our young players to showcase their talent and to take a strong stance in their own careers. I’m sure we’ll have a good and successful season again at Assupol TuksCricket.”
The NCU Premier & Reserve Leagues will start on 24 September and the NCU Second & Third Leagues will start on 1 October.
We wish all our teams the best for the upcoming season.
