Assupol TuksCricket fall short at the Momentum National Club Championships final

Posted on April 27, 2016

On Wednesday, 27 April 2016, Assupol TuksCricket played against Pukke in the Momentum National Club Championships final. Both teams were unbeaten in their respective pools.

Tuks won the toss and decided to bat first. They had a rocky start after losing their opening batsman, Murray Coetzee, in the first over of the match. But thanks to a 148-run partnership between Sean Phillips (87 from 97 balls) and Tony de Zorzi (74 from 108 balls), Tuks managed to reach 182/3 in the 39th over. After that, however, the Tuks batting line-up collapsed; they lost seven wickets for 25 runs in seven overs, ending on 209 in the 46th over.

Pukke began by losing a wicket in the second over, but worked their way to an eight-wicket win in the 44th over thanks to Richardt Frens (83*) and Andre Malan (59*)

Tuks may not have been victorious but there are many positives that the team took away from the tournament.
