Posted on April 25, 2016

On day 4 of the Momentum National Club Championships, Assupol TuksCricket played against Kempton Park at the TUT Oval. Tuks won the toss and decided to bat first.

The first few wickets fell very quickly for Tuks and they found themselves on 9/3 in the 6th over. Heinrich Klaasen (20 from 41) and Evan Jones (22 from 23) started a good partnership but Evan Jones was caught out when Tuks reached 50 and Heinrich Klaasen got caught just after leaving Tuks at 56/5 in the 17th over. Thanks to a 71 run partnership between Thomas Kaber (43 from 76 balls) and Willie Ludick (30 from 58 balls), and Sean Nowak scoring 43* from 32 at the end of the innings Assupol TuksCricket managed to score 215 in 50 overs.

Kempton Park began their batting innings well and were 106/3 in the 28th over but thanks to Ruben Claassen (8.5-0-27-4) and Corbin Bosch (10-1-31-2) their batting line-up collapsed towards the end and they were bowled out for 138 in the 40th over.

Ruben Claassen was named Man of the Match after taking 4 wickets, scoring 27 from 38 balls and being involved in two run outs.

Thanks to this 79 run win, Assupol TuksCricket move into first place in their pool. Tomorrow Tuks will be playing against NMMU at Memorial Park; the match will start at 9h45. The winner of this match will go through to the final on Wednesday.
