Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals 2015

After winning the inaugural Varsity Cricket Week in Potchefstroom in February, Assupol TuksCricket qualified to once again represent South Africa at the Universities World Cup and compete to become World Champions.

This year, the World Finals will be hosted at the National School of Cricket in Dehradun, India. More than 200 university teams from South Africa, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, UAE and Australia competed to be the top in their country and represent in their national colours at the World Finals.

Team South Africa will be departing South Africa on the 14th October 2015 for a warm-up camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai where they will be training and playing a warm up match against the team representing the UAE at the World Finals. From there on 17th October 2015 the team will leave for Dehradun and start the tournament on Monday 19th October.

In preparation for this tournament the team had the privilege of working with Shaun Pollock who gave players advice on what to expect from the conditions in India and how to prepare for the tour. They also played two warm up games against the Cape Cobras before the start of the NCU Leagues.

The team has been working hard to prepare for this tournament and are ready to go and defend their title. Head Coach of Team South Africa Pierre de Bruyn commented, “It is another opportunity for a young player to wear the Green and Gold. We have a very balanced team with senior and junior players and we are ready for this World Cup. The players have the believe and is well prepared to win the title.”
