Delivering computers for the Ward-based Primary Health Workers

Posted on May 01, 2015

As part of their Community-based Project (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology students repair the old computers of the University and donate it to non-profit organisations as well as schools. One group of students, Adolfo Almeida, Tapfuma Chanaiwa, Wandile Mabuza, Dean Maponga and Nkosinathi Ngwenya delivered 10 repaired computers to the Ward-based Primary Health Outreach Teams. The computers are placed at Jafta Mahlangu Secondary School where the community health workers will be able to capture the data collected. The City of Tshwane and the Tshwane District (Gauteng Department of Health), supported by the University of Pretoria and Medunsa, have begun to implement ward-based primary health care. The aim is to collect statistics and address specific need in the community.
