AMLA

The AMLA Project is an initiative by the Legal Vice-Presidency of the World Bank. It is being implemented in collaboration with the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), and the African Union Commission (AUC), with the aim of supporting African countries in maximising mineral resource benefits.

Accordingly, the Project objectives include the promotion of transparency, accessibility and comparison of Africa’s mining laws; facilitation for the preparation, revision and implementation of mining laws; providing a living database to catalyse research and policy debates on legal and regulatory issues; and to promote the development of local legal expertise on African mining laws.

The Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria is proud to announce that, following a competitive round, the University of Pretoria (in particular TuksLaw) has been selected as the sole South African University to be represented on the Project Implementing Consortium (PIC) of the AMLA Project.

More information on the Project is available here.
