Posted on June 29, 2016

Prof Laurie Nathan, Director of the Centre for Mediation in Africa (CMA) in the Department of Political Sciences, has been invited to serve as a lead author on the report being prepared by the International Panel on Social Progress (https://www.ipsp.org/).

The IPSP is an ambitious undertaking that aims to bring together the world's leading researchers, sociologists and economists in an integrated effort to develop evidence-based and multi-disciplinary solutions to the world's most pressing social problems. Hundreds of experts will contribute to the IPSP report, which will provide knowledge and advice on critical issues relating to social progress. Prof Nathan's paper will draw on his expertise in international mediation and explore the challenges of peace negotiations and agreements. The paper will form part of the chapter on Violence, Wars, Peace and Security.
