About us

The Centre for Environmental Studies is a graduate school for multidisciplinary training and research, forcusing on the environment. Training aims to satisfy the need for environmental professionals for implementing current environmental legislation as well as industry-driven environmental management systems. Training of students takes place in two ways:

a) Research-based master's and PhD students in Environmental Science

b) Coursework master's specialisation options in Environmental Science

Admission Requirements

For the master’s level programmes, candidate learners must be in possession of a four-year degree qualification, or equivalent degree status with appropriate subjects as prescribed for each field of specialisation.( NQF level 8)  MINIMUM OF 70% GPA - Final admission is subject to the approval of the Director of the Centre and the head(s) of the respective co-ordinating department(s). Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the English language up to the level required by either the TOEFL test (www.ets.org/toefl) or the IELTS language proficiency test (www.ielts.org).

Limited intake of students and Admission is subject to the approval of the Director of the Centre and the appropriate head of department in consultation with course coordinators. After selection we will unfortunately not be able to engage in futher communiction for late application requests.

 

 

For PhD degrees need to have obtained a master’s degree in an appropriate field of expertise. Preference will be given to PhD candidates with publication experience in professional journal(s).
