As researchers, it is tempting at times to construct studies based on the research methodologies with which we are most familiar. This can be an appropriate exercise in certain circumstances — for example, as part of a doctoral level course that focuses on a particular method. However, in the broader scope of planning and executing our research careers, our research questions should guide the methods, rather than having questions dictated to by the degree to which we are comfortable with particular types of research designs. In this talk, Prof Binger will discuss the ways in which she, together with her research collaborator Prof Jennifer Kent-Walsh, have conceptualized their research careers. In particular she will focus on examples of the ways in which research questions lead to using a wide variety of research designs. Please see event attachment for more information.
