#TuksBadminton: Mopanie took the 2017 Men’s Internal League Title

Posted on February 27, 2017

The TuksBadminton Men’s Internal League took place on 23 February 2017 at 19:00 at the TuksSport Center in Hall 3. There were 33 teams that participated in the league, making it one of the largest in recent years. The venue was jam-packed with spectators. The players enjoyed mass support from their fellow housemates. The atmosphere was exciting and the badminton was of a good quality.

After many hard fought matches, the finalists were determined. Olympus and Mopanie looked solid throughout the run-up to the final, and there was little to choose between them. These two teams included TuksBadminton players and there was little doubt that they were the eventual finalists.

The final took place amongst excellent support, especially for Olympus. The level of badminton was at national standards, and the spectators loved the high quality, cheering after every point. It was Mopanie however who started well and closed the 1st game winning it 21/15. But Olympus had other ideas in the 2nd game and fought back to win it 21/16. This meant that a third game decider was needed to determine the winner. It was neck-on-neck throughout the game, each side trading blows. At half way, it was Olympus leading 11/10. However, towards the end, Mopanie put their foot on the accelerator and dominated the game winning the 3rd game 21/14, and thus winning the league.

The TuksBadminton Men’s Internal League 2017 was a huge success, with Mopanie being deserved winners.
