Great performances by TuksAthletes at AGN Championships

Posted on March 17, 2014

The highlight of the Championships was undoubtedly the Junior African and South African record in the Decathlon by Fredriech Pretorius. Pretorius accumulated a points total of 7730 shattering the SA Record by 350 points and the African Record by 182 points, which stood since 2001. With this performance Pretorius also qualified for the IAAF Junior World Championships which takes place in Eugene, Oregon, USA later in July and will surely be a medal contender with this stunning performance!

Other good performances:
Orazio Cremona who, a week earlier at the IAAF World Indoor Championships finished 7th only 6 cm short of his personal best (PB), set a new PB when he won the men's shot put with a distance of 20.58m;
Akani Simbine ran the fastest time in South Africa and the 7th fastest ever by a South African over the 100m when he won the men's race in a time of 10.13;
Jon Seeliger, an up and coming junior athlete, run 2 PB's - on Friday he won the 200m in a time of 20.95 and followed that up with a great win in the 4000m on Saturday with a time of 46.35;
Mpho Links  won the High Jump for junior men with the 2nd  best height of all men for 2014 when he cleared the cross bar with a height of 2.15m.

Numerous other athletes also set personal best and if the standard of performances is taken into consideration, TuksAthletes will once again dominate the various SA Championships that will be taking place in April.

Congratulation to each and every TuksAthlete that won a medal and also set PB's at the Championships.
