TuksAthletics over 1st hurdle to defend Varsity Athletics title

Posted on March 24, 2014

The performance on the night was undoubtedly that of Orazio Cremona in the shot put when he won the event  with a personal best  of 20.63m. This distance  catapulted him into the 2nd  place on the all-time ranking list by a South African athlete and  was it no surprise when he was also awarded the prize of the best performance by a male athlete on the night.

The other outstanding performance was the 4 x 100m relay for men when Tuks became the 1st club team ever to run faster that 40 seconds when they crossed the finished line in a time of 38.76 seconds. This is an incredible feat as this was the 1st time that these athletes run together as a team and can these athletes get very close to the SA Record in the future.

Tuks won 9 out of the 18 events on the night with 4 second places, underlining the quality of their performances. The athletes that won their respective events are:
Orazio Cremon Shot Put 20.63
Chad Herma Javelin 71.32
Duwayne Boer Long Jump 7.40
Le Roux Hamman 400H 50.99
Kobus Moolman 110H 14.16
4 x 100m Relay Men 39.76
Anneri Ebersohn 400m 54.86
Michelle Cornelius Triple Jump 12.21
4 x 100m Relay Women 45.72

With these performances, the foundation has been laid for the next meeting that is taking place on 14 April in Potchefstroom.

Tuks of NIks!!
