Invitation
Dear
Colleagues,
The
University of Pretoria is proud to have been selected to host the 6th
Seed Health Symposium (SHS) of the International Seed Testing
Association (ISTA) at Berg-en-Dal conference centre, Kruger Park in
South Africa from 14 to 18 April 2008. It is both my pleasure and honour
to invite you to be a participant in this important event. The
symposium promises to embrace the latest advances, challenges, and
opportunities on a variety of subjects ranging from the most basic
scientific research on seed health to the most practical issues
confronting the commercial seed industry.
The aim of the
symposium is to include all involved in the international seed industry
and research institutions world-wide in a forum at which the many facets
of seed health can be placed in perspective to the mutual benefit of all
participants.
The specific
objectives for this symposium are to:
·
Bring
together researchers from around the world, working on all aspects of
seed health;
·
Provide opportunities for African researchers to interact with
colleagues from the rest of the world;
·
Enhance exchange of information and knowledge among researchers,
analysts and other members of the seed industry;
·
Promote collaboration between researchers, and with the international
seed industry;
·
Produce a CD or book of conference proceedings.
The conference
provides a forum for research presentation, interaction with members of
the seed industry and an engaging atmosphere for informal discussion on
seed health. At the same time the 6th SHS 2008 will include
an enjoyable and memorable programme for social events that will give
delegates opportunity for relaxation, sightseeing, networking and
enjoying South African hospitality.
The Kruger Park
looks forward with true South African warmth to being the home for this
event and confidently assures delegates of a most entertaining and
informative visit.
We look forward to
seeing you in the Kruger Park in 2008.
With kind regards,

Theresa
