Short bio:

Magalie Bourblanc is a political scientist. She has specialized in public policy analysis of mainly environmental (water in particular) and agricultural issues. She previously worked on quality aspect of water policies in France and in the Netherlands, analyzing public policies tackling non-point source pollution coming from agricultural activities. She now focuses on the implementation of the National Water Act in South Africa, having worked over the past year on Catchment Management Agencies’ establishment process. She works now on two new research projects, one studying pro-poor mechanisms in access to land and water in Southern Africa (CPWF-L4 “water governance in the Limpopo basin”); the other one on “Integrated management of water and natural resources in Africa” EU-FP7 project. She will soon start conducting a socio-anthropological study of the South African Department of water Affairs, examining especially the implementation of affirmative action policy within the organization.
