SAMRO Concert of Works by South African Composers

Posted on April 13, 2016

On Wednesday 13 April 13:00 compositions will once again resound at the annual SAMRO Concert of Works by South African Composers. The concert will take place at the Musaion on the Hatfield campus of the University of Pretoria. Entrance is free.

This year’s concert promises to be filled with a variety of works. The first half of the programme starts with art songs by two of the country’s younger generation composers – Altus Hendriks and Pieter Bezuidenhout. This will be followed by pieces for solo piano by the distinguished composer, Peter Klatzow. Later in the programme a range of works will be performed with instruments ranging from marimba to Saxophone. Furthermore, the audience will be mesmerised by works of Clare Loveday, William Haubrich, and others. In the second half Matthew Lombard will be accompanied by string ensemble to perform saxophone compositions by Abdullah Ibrahim, Alan Salinga, and more.

Be sure to diarise this date – it is a concert not to be missed.
