UP Law provides students with platform to interact with great South African legal minds

Posted on May 14, 2018

The Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria, in conjunction with its Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa (ICLA), are organising luncheons with senior members of the legal profession to provide a platform for students to interact with great legal minds.

The aim of this and other similar lunches, organised by the Faculty of Law, is to expose student leaders and prominent members of the legal profession to each other.  According to Prof Christof Heyns, Director of ICLA and a member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee, 'The Faculty of Law and ICLA trust that these opportunities for UP law students will be a platform to draw from and be inspired by the greatest legal minds in South Africa.'

On Wednesday, 9 May 2018, the Faculty of Law hosted a luncheon with the Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa, Dunstan Mlambo, attended by the respective law student bodies' executive members.  On 14 November 2017 students had the opportunity to meet with retired Justice Albie Sachs from the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
